Trauma & Accelerated Resolution Therapy
“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.”
What is ART?
Well, I am so glad that you asked! ART stands for Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and was created by Laney Rosenzweig, MS, LMFT. ART is an evidence-based therapy that is proven to be effective in treating PTSD, anxiety, and depression. It can also be beneficial with other concerns, such as OCD, implementing habits, or even grief. ART has been proven to be effective quickly, typically with a reduction in symptoms in 1-5 sessions, and uses bi-lateral eye movements in order to help the brain work through distressing and traumatic images and/or experiences through using Voluntary Image Replacement. Oh, did I also mention that you don’t have to talk about your negative experience out loud?

Okay… So how does ART work?
ART does not eliminate your memory, it simply allows for you to keep the facts of what happened, while working to decrease the emotional response to the negative sensations and emotions that are attached to that memory. It also can change memories to allow them to be viewed positively, or neutrally, but will likely no longer have the same negative response.
