Great question! I have completed training through PSI, Postpartum Support International. I have completed a 2-day Components of Care training, as well as an Advanced Psychotherapy training, totaling 20 hours. I am working towards the PMH-C certification.

I’m so glad you asked! Yes, absolutely. It might just appear and present differently than it might in a birthing parent.
-
YES! Absolutely. If you prefer, you may bring your baby to every session, rather than lining up childcare. I would encourage you to do what feels most comfortable to you. Some parents prefer to leave their baby at home with a trusted individual, while some prefer to bring them to sessions.

Stepping into motherhood and parenthood, whether it is your first or your last, is overwhelming! There is a lot of sleep deprivation, change, and transition happening all at the same time.
If you notice any of the below, it is worth talking about.
Constant and excessive worry
Intrusive and disturbing thoughts that feel distressing to you
Feeling disconnected to baby and those around you
Feeling lonely even if you are not alone
Unexpected and random crying spells
Guilt that feels consistent when you do something for you ex. take a shower
Worry that you are failing or doing something wrong
You deserve a space to talk. A space to not feel alone.

Good question! Hormones definitely are a part of the equation, but so is everything else. The transitions. The changes. The new identity. Absolutely nothing is “wrong” with you or “just your hormones”. Motherhood can bring up parts of us that we thought were healed, or parts of us that we didn’t even know were present. Therapy can help you connect with those parts of you and work towards understanding and self-compassion vs. shaming.
